Library services for health providers and staff

Our library and information services are available to health-care professionals and physicians across Eastern Health. The organization maintains a number of libraries and also has cooperative arrangements with both local and national health libraries. As an employee or clinician, you may request to borrow resources from any of these libraries. Please note that turn-around time for most requests is one to two working days for articles, and five to 10 working days for books. Other services include:

This service allows staff with busy schedules to stay up-to-date on current news and research on all aspects of patient care.

Information/Reference service

Our team provides research services using our on-site and online resources and databases.

Literature searches

Our library staff performs literature and mediated searches for employees and physicians. We also have a range of resources available to provide support and answer questions you may have on searching techniques.

Literature search training

Our team offers training sessions for searching library resources.

Research Tools

We also provide access to subscription-based resources to help you find the information related to research or to general health-care queries.

Our subscription-based resources include a mix of web-based tools, such as UpToDate and RxTx, as well as medical databases, journal subscriptions, textbooks and more. Resources are available via our intranet page which is available while onsite.

Many of our tools have apps or mobile access that, once set up, can be utilized from anywhere. These include:

We loan books to staff and physicians from any of our locations listed below. For information on the books we carry, we invite you to do a search of our online catalogue.
